Homemade Hot Cocoa

Before I turn over this recipe, I want to forewarn you; that you will crave this chocolatey goodness. This drink will throw a party in your mouth, and you will come back for more. Even if your one of those cooks that create your own recipes off others, this is a good base to start. Let’s get to it:

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa
3/4 cup white sugar
1 pinch of salt
1/3 cup boiling water
4 cups milk
3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 and 1/2

What I do is combine the cocoa, sugar, and salt into a saucepan. I then boil my water in the measuring cup in the microwave. Once the water is boiling I pour the water directly into the saucepan. I start stirring with a wooden spoon. Now, I turn my burner onto a low setting that will create a simmer for my hot chocolate. Once I’ve mixed the cocoa mixture together I add my milk and vanilla. Just keep stirring and you will have homemade hot chocolate before you know it! I throw marshmallows at the bottom of my cup, fill ‘er up, dash a bit of allspice on top, and sit down to enjoy!
